Bromley stabbing leaves four injured and seven in custody

A violent brawl in Bromley town centre left four people with stab wounds and seven individuals under arrest on Saturday evening, after a fight erupted near a KFC restaurant on the high street. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 9 p.m., with multiple ambulances and at least six police units responding to reports of a large-scale altercation.

What witnesses saw

One eyewitness, who was eating nearby, described the scene as chaotic. “It just exploded out of nowhere,” she said. “One minute people were queuing, the next there were maybe 20 or 30 people fighting right there on the pavement.” She said she saw at least two people on the ground before she ran inside. Another bystander filmed part of the incident on his phone and said he counted several weapons before he stopped recording and called 999. Police have since asked anyone with footage to come forward.

Four taken to hospital

London Ambulance Service confirmed that four patients were transported to hospital following the incident. Two of them, both adult males, were treated for what medics described as serious but not life-threatening injuries. The other two sustained minor wounds and were discharged later that night. A fifth person was assessed at the scene but declined further treatment.

It’s unclear whether all four victims were involved in the original fight or were caught up in the chaos that followed.

Seven arrested at the scene

Metropolitan Police officers detained seven people at the scene. Their ages range from 17 to 34, and they were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon. All seven were taken to south London police stations and remained in custody as of Sunday morning. So far, no charges have been formally filed, but investigators say that’s expected to change as the inquiry progresses.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously. Officers responded quickly, and we’re working to establish the full circumstances of what took place. Anyone with information should contact us directly.”

Bromley residents react

Local residents took to social media overnight to express alarm. Several pointed out that the stretch of the high street where the fight broke out is typically busy on weekend evenings, with restaurants, a cinema, and late-night fast food outlets drawing large crowds. But this isn’t the first time the area has seen trouble. Bromley has recorded a handful of knife-related incidents this year, though Saturday’s episode is among the most serious in recent months.

Still, some residents were quick to note that the town centre is generally considered safe, and that Saturday’s violence appeared to involve a specific group rather than a random attack on the public.

Police say CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed and that further arrests are possible. A full investigation is now underway, and detectives are expected to provide an update early next week.
